6th Black Dolls Expo (2014)

Theme: “What Makes Me Beautiful?”

Exploring ideas about beauty and how African People are portrayed in the media – magazines, newspapers, film and television.

One of our most successful events to date!  It appears the message is getting around about the concept behind ‘Operation Sankofa’ – celebrating and promoting Black Dolls.  Attendance was brilliant and it was gratifying to see a good balance of age groups and gender.

The exhibitors were in their element and the atmosphere in the hall felt more like a family reunion. We were animated and noisy; doing too many things at once; all age groups interacting – not a murmur from the children; working the leg muscles on those stairs; looking and buying such creative offerings and then having the energy to bounce into our group dance at the end!!
